Inspection [09/2014 - ]: Procedure

  1. INSPECT FUEL PUMP WITH FILTER ASSEMBLY (for Brush Type Motor) 
    1. Check the resistance.
      1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

        Standard Resistance

        Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
        1 - 2 20°C (68°F) 0.2 to 3.0 Ω

        If the result is not as specified, replace the fuel pump with filter assembly.

        *a Component without harness connected
        (Fuel Pump with Filter Assembly)
    2. Check fuel pump with filter assembly operation.
      1. Apply battery voltage to terminals 1 and 2. Check that the fuel pump with filter assembly operates.
        NOTE:
        • Perform this test within 10 seconds to prevent the coil from burning out.
        • Keep the fuel pump with filter assembly as far away from the battery as possible.
        • Always switch the voltage on and off at the battery side, not the fuel pump with filter assembly side.

        If the fuel pump with filter assembly does not operate, replace the fuel pump with filter assembly.

  2. INSPECT FUEL PUMP (for Brushless Type Motor) 
    1. Check the resistance.

      *a Component without harness connected
      (Fuel Pump)
      1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

        Standard Resistance

        Tester Connection Specified Condition
        U - V 0.05 to 3.0 Ω
        V - W 0.05 to 3.0 Ω
        U - W 0.05 to 3.0 Ω

        If the result is not as specified, replace the fuel pump.
