Removal [09/2014 - ]: Procedure
- REMOVE FRONT SUSPENSION MEMBER BRACE SUB-ASSEMBLY
Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 15 [09/2014 - 05/2018] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 15 [05/2018 - 03/2019] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 15 [03/2019 - ]
- REMOVE NO. 2 ENGINE UNDER COVER
Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 17 [09/2014 - 05/2018] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 17 [05/2018 - 03/2019] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 17 [03/2019 - ]
- DRAIN AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FLUID
- Remove the drain plug and gasket from the automatic transmission assembly and drain the ATF.
- Install a new gasket and the drain plug to automatic transmission assembly.
Torque: 20 N.m (204 kgf/cm, 15 ft.lbf)
- REMOVE NO. 1 EXHAUST PIPE SUPPORT BRACKET SUB-ASSEMBLY
- Remove the 4 bolts, 2 nuts and No. 1 exhaust pipe support bracket sub-assembly from the exhaust manifold sub-assembly LH (TWC: Front Catalyst), exhaust manifold sub-assembly RH (TWC: Front Catalyst) and automatic transmission assembly.
*a Nut HINT:
When removing the exhaust pipe bolts, hold the nuts while loosening the bolts.
- Remove the 4 bolts, 2 nuts and No. 1 exhaust pipe support bracket sub-assembly from the exhaust manifold sub-assembly LH (TWC: Front Catalyst), exhaust manifold sub-assembly RH (TWC: Front Catalyst) and automatic transmission assembly.
- REMOVE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION OIL PAN SUB-ASSEMBLY
- Remove the 9 bolts, automatic transmission oil pan sub-assembly and automatic transmission oil pan gasket from the automatic transmission case sub-assembly.NOTE:
Some fluid will remain in the automatic transmission oil pan sub-assembly. Remove all of the bolts, and carefully remove the automatic transmission oil pan sub-assembly.
- Remove the 3 transmission oil cleaner magnets from the automatic transmission oil pan sub-assembly.
*1 Transmission Oil Cleaner Magnet - Examine the particles in the automatic transmission oil pan sub-assembly.
- Use the removed transmission oil cleaner magnets to collect any steel chips.
Examine the chips and particles in the automatic transmission oil pan sub-assembly and on the transmission oil cleaner magnets to determine what type of wear might be found in the automatic transmission assembly.
Result
Steel (magnetic):
Bearing, gear and clutch plate wear
Brass (non-magnetic):
Bushing wear
- Use the removed transmission oil cleaner magnets to collect any steel chips.
- Remove the 9 bolts, automatic transmission oil pan sub-assembly and automatic transmission oil pan gasket from the automatic transmission case sub-assembly.
- REMOVE VALVE BODY OIL STRAINER ASSEMBLY
- REMOVE TRANSMISSION VALVE BODY ASSEMBLY
*1 Lock Plate *a ATF Temperature Sensor *b Oil Pressure Switch - Remove the bolt and lock plate, and disconnect the ATF temperature sensor.
- Disconnect the oil pressure switch connector.
- Disconnect the 9 shift solenoid valve connectors.
- Remove the bolt, detent spring cover and detent spring from the transmission valve body assembly.
*1 Detent Spring Cover *2 Detent Spring - Remove the 17 bolts and transmission valve body assembly from the automatic transmission case sub-assembly.
- Disconnect the manual valve connecting rod from the manual valve lever sub-assembly.
*1 Manual Valve Connecting Rod *2 Manual Valve Lever Sub-assembly - Remove the check ball body and spring from the automatic transmission case sub-assembly.
