Removal [10/2018 - 07/2022]: Procedure

  1. PRECAUTION 
    NOTE:
    • After turning the engine switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal notices before proceeding with work.

      Refer to PRECAUTION [10/2018 - 07/2022]

    • Perform the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) registration when replacing the ECM.

      Refer to REGISTRATION [10/2018 - 07/2022]

  2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE AUXILIARY BATTERY TERMINAL 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 2

    NOTE:

    When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected.

    Refer to INITIALIZATION [10/2018 - 07/2022]

  3. REMOVE NO. 1 ENGINE COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 13 Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 13

  4. REMOVE RADIATOR SUPPORT OPENING COVER 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 3

  5. REMOVE NO. 1 AIR CLEANER INLET 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 11 Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 11

  6. REMOVE AIR CLEANER CAP WITH AIR CLEANER HOSE 

    See step  4

  7. REMOVE AIR CLEANER FILTER ELEMENT SUB-ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 3

  8. REMOVE AIR CLEANER CASE SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the 2 bolts.

    2. Disengage the guide to remove the air cleaner case sub-assembly.
  9. REMOVE NO. 1 RELAY BLOCK COVER 
    1. Disengage the claw and 2 guides to remove the No. 1 relay block cover from the engine room relay block.

  10. REMOVE ECM 
    1. Disconnect the 3 connectors from the engine room relay block.

    2. Disengage the 2 claws to separate the engine wire from the engine room relay block.
    3. Raise the 2 lock levers while pushing the locks on the levers, and disconnect the 2 ECM connectors.

      *1 Grommet
      *a Lock lever
      NOTE:

      After disconnecting the ECM connectors, make sure that dirt, water or other foreign matter does not contact the connecting parts of the ECM connectors.

    4. Remove the bolt to separate the engine wire.
    5. Remove the grommet.
    6. Remove the bolt and nut.

    7. Disengage the guide to remove the ECM.
      NOTE:

      If the ECM has been struck or dropped, replace it.

  11. REMOVE NO. 2 ECM BRACKET 
    1. Remove the 2 screws and No. 2 ECM bracket from the ECM.

  12. REMOVE NO. 1 ECM BRACKET 
    1. Remove the 2 screws and No. 1 ECM bracket from the ECM.
