DTC U0418-81: Invalid Data Received from Brake System Control Module Invalid Serial Data Received [08/2021 - ]: Procedure

  1. CONFIRM MODEL 
    1. Choose the model to be inspected.

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      For HV Model A
      For Gasoline Model B

    Result:

  2. CHECK ELECTRONICALLY CONTROLLED BRAKE SYSTEM 
    1. Check the DTCs.

      Chassis > ABS/VSC/TRAC > Trouble Codes 

      OK

      Electronically controlled brake system DTCs are not output.

      HINT: 

      If U0418-81 is output in the pre-collision system, electronically controlled brake system DTCs may also have been output. Check the electronically controlled brake system first.

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE FORWARD RECOGNITION CAMERA. Refer to  REMOVAL [08/2021 - ] 

    Result: 

    NG 

    GO TO ELECTRONICALLY CONTROLLED BRAKE SYSTEM. Refer to  HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING [06/2018 - ] 

  3. CHECK ELECTRONICALLY CONTROLLED BRAKE SYSTEM 
    1. Check the DTCs.

      Chassis > Brake/EPB > Trouble Codes 

      OK

      Electronically controlled brake system DTCs are not output.

      HINT: 

      If U0418-81 is output in the pre-collision system, electronically controlled brake system DTCs may also have been output. Check the electronically controlled brake system first.

    Result:
