Removal [12/2021 - ]: Procedure

  1. REMOVE V-BANK COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY 

    See step  1

  2. REMOVE CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSOR (for Intake Side of Bank 1)

      1. Disconnect the camshaft position sensor (for Intake Side of Bank 1) connector.
      2. Remove the bolt and camshaft position sensor (for Intake Side of Bank 1) from the cylinder head cover sub-assembly.
        NOTE:

        If the camshaft position sensor (for Intake Side of Bank 1) has been struck or dropped, replace it.

      3. Perform this procedure only when reusing the camshaft position sensor (for Intake Side of Bank 1).

        1. Remove the O-ring from the camshaft position sensor (for Intake Side of Bank 1).

        NOTE:
        • Make sure to only remove the O-ring with bare hands.
        • When removing the O-ring, be careful not to damage the O-ring groove of the camshaft position sensor (for Intake Side of Bank 1).
        • If the O-ring groove of the camshaft position sensor (for Intake Side of Bank 1) is damaged, replace the camshaft position sensor (for Intake Side of Bank 1) with a new one.
  3. REMOVE CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSOR (for Exhaust Side of Bank 1)

      1. Disconnect the camshaft position sensor (for Exhaust Side of Bank 1) connector.
      2. Remove the bolt and camshaft position sensor (for Exhaust Side of Bank 1) from the cylinder head cover sub-assembly.
        NOTE:

        If the camshaft position sensor (for Exhaust Side of Bank 1) has been struck or dropped, replace it.

      3. Perform this procedure only when reusing the camshaft position sensor (for Exhaust Side of Bank 1).

        1. Remove the O-ring from the camshaft position sensor (for Exhaust Side of Bank 1).

        NOTE:
        • Make sure to only remove the O-ring with bare hands.
        • When removing the O-ring, be careful not to damage the O-ring groove of the camshaft position sensor (for Exhaust Side of Bank 1).
        • If the O-ring groove of the camshaft position sensor (for Exhaust Side of Bank 1) is damaged, replace the camshaft position sensor (for Exhaust Side of Bank 1) with a new one.
  4. REMOVE CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSOR (for Intake Side of Bank 2)

      1. Disconnect the camshaft position sensor (for Intake Side of Bank 2) connector.
      2. Remove the bolt and camshaft position sensor (for Intake Side of Bank 2) from the cylinder head cover sub-assembly.
        NOTE:

        If the camshaft position sensor (for Intake Side of Bank 2) has been struck or dropped, replace it.

      3. Perform this procedure only when reusing the camshaft position sensor (for Intake Side of Bank 2).

        1. Remove the O-ring from the camshaft position sensor (for Intake Side of Bank 2).

        NOTE:
        • Make sure to only remove the O-ring with bare hands.
        • When removing the O-ring, be careful not to damage the O-ring groove of the camshaft position sensor (for Intake Side of Bank 2).
        • If the O-ring groove of the camshaft position sensor (for Intake Side of Bank 2) is damaged, replace the camshaft position sensor (for Intake Side of Bank 2) with a new one.
  5. REMOVE CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSOR (for Exhaust Side of Bank 2)

      1. Disconnect the camshaft position sensor (for Exhaust Side of Bank 2) connector.
      2. Remove the bolt and camshaft position sensor (for Exhaust Side of Bank 2) from the cylinder head cover sub-assembly.
        NOTE:

        If the camshaft position sensor (for Exhaust Side of Bank 2) has been struck or dropped, replace it.

      3. Perform this procedure only when reusing the camshaft position sensor (for Exhaust Side of Bank 2).

        1. Remove the O-ring from the camshaft position sensor (for Exhaust Side of Bank 2).

        NOTE:
        • Make sure to only remove the O-ring with bare hands.
        • When removing the O-ring, be careful not to damage the O-ring groove of the camshaft position sensor (for Exhaust Side of Bank 2).
        • If the O-ring groove of the camshaft position sensor (for Exhaust Side of Bank 2) is damaged, replace the camshaft position sensor (for Exhaust Side of Bank 2) with a new one.
