- PRE-CHECK
- Measure the battery voltage.
Standard voltage
11 to 14 V (ignition switch off)
If the voltage is below 11 V, recharge or replace the battery before proceeding to the next step.
HINT:
- If the battery voltage is less than 11 V, recharge or replace the battery. If the integrated current value does not exceed the threshold*1 even though the battery has been replaced or charged until the charging current decreases to 5 A or less, perform an integrated current value initialization*2 and drive the vehicle for approximately 5 to 40 minutes until the stop and start system operates.
- *1: Refer to System Description for details on the integrated current threshold.
Refer to SYSTEM DESCRIPTION [12/2021 - 10/2023] , or refer to SYSTEM DESCRIPTION [10/2023 - ]
- *2: Use the GTS to perform Integrated Current Value Initialization.
Refer to REGISTRATION [12/2021 - ]
- *1: Refer to System Description for details on the integrated current threshold.
- When replacing the battery, even if the stop and start system operates directly after performing integrated current value initialization, operation of the stop and start system may be prohibited at certain times over the next few trips while battery charge learning is performed.
- Check the fuses and relays.
- Check the connector connections and terminals to make sure that there are no abnormalities such as loose connections, deformation, etc.

- Measure the battery voltage.
- CHECK DTC AND FREEZE FRAME DATA*
- Check for DTCs.
Powertrain > Stop and Start > Trouble Codes
- Check for freeze frame data.
HINT:
Record or print DTCs and freeze frame data if necessary.
- Clear the DTCs and freeze frame data.
Powertrain > Stop and Start > Clear DTCs
- Recheck for DTCs.
Powertrain > Stop and Start > Trouble Codes
HINT:
If any DTCs for the CAN communication system are output, troubleshoot those DTCs first.

- CONFIRMATION TEST
- Warm up the engine.
- Turn the air conditioning system off.
- Drive the vehicle for 5 to 40 minutes.WARNING:
When performing Confirmation Driving Pattern, obey all speed limits and traffic laws.
- Stop the vehicle and confirm that the engine is stopped by stop and start control when all of the following conditions are met:
- Steering wheel centered
- Shift lever in D
- Brake pedal depressed
- Stop and start indicator illuminated
HINT:
If the engine is not stopped by stop and start control, air fuel ratio learning and idle speed learning are necessary. Allow the engine to idle for 3 minutes and check that the engine idle speed is within 50 rpm of the target idle speed.
- Move the shift lever to N and confirm that the engine starts.
