Single-Lead Sensor

ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR CHECK

1. Drain the engine coolant (Refer to Maintenance Service - Engine Coolant).
2. Remove the engine coolant temperature sensor.







3. Immerse the unit in 70 degrees C (158 degrees F) water to measure the resistance.

Standard value: 104 ± 13.5 ohms

4. If within the standard value, the sensor is OK. Reinstall it, then check the engine coolant temperature gauge. If not within the standard value, replace it.




5. Apply the specified sealant to the thread of the engine coolant temperature sensor, and then tighten it to the specified torque.

Specified Sealant: 3M(TM) AAD part number 8731 or equivalent

6. Add engine coolant (Refer to Maintenance Service - Engine Coolant).
