Throttle Valve Switch
- Disconnect harness connector on carburetor. Connect jumper wires between anti-dieseling solenoid harness terminals. Continuity should not exist between the throttle valve switch harness terminals.
- Start engine and increase engine speed to about 2000 RPM. Continuity should now exist between the throttle valve harness terminals. Decrease engine speed gradually. On manual transmission models, reduce to 1000-1700 RPM. On automatic transmission models, reduce to 900-1600 RPM. At this point, circuit should break and cause the ohmmeter to indicate an open circuit.
- If incorrect, adjust. Remove carburetor from engine. Open the throttle manually. Close the throttle opening manually until the ohmmeter, still connected as in step 2), indicates an open circuit. Check clearance of throttle valve in carburetor. Clearance should be 0.0146" (0.37 mm). If out of specification, adjust clearance by bending adjusting plate until ohmmeter indicates an open circuit.
