Injection Pump Timing
- Bring No. 1 cylinder to TDC on compression stroke. Ensure timing mark indicator and the notch in the crankshaft pulley are aligned. No. 1 cylinder camshaft lobes must be pointing up. See Fig 1 .
- Remove all injection pipes. Set cold start device to free position. Turn cold start device linkage clockwise and insert a block 0.59" (15 mm) between device and linkage.
- Remove plug bolt from rear side of injection pump. Attach dial indicator and adapter (KV11229352) to measure pump plunger lift. Loosen pump nuts and bracket bolt. Turn crankshaft 15°-20° from TDC counterclockwise. Set dial indicator to zero. See Fig 2 .
- Turn crankshaft clockwise until No. 1 cylinder is at TDC. Dial indicator gauge should read .0358-.0382" (.91-.97 mm). If dial indicator is outside specifications, rotate pump body and retest plunger stroke lift. Repeat this operation until reading falls within specifications.
- Remove adapter with dial indicator and replace plug bolt using new gasket. Connect fuel injection tubes in the order of 4, 3, 2 and 1. Bleed fuel system.
