TECHNICAL INFORMATION TIP
Reference Number(s): NIS0172AP, Date of Issue:
INTERMITTENT IGNITION SHUTDOWN: IGNITION MODULE LOOSE
YEAR(S): 1984-88
MANUFACTURER: Nissan
MODEL(S): Maxima, 280Z, Truck, Sentra
ISSUE & TIP
The two wire electrical connector to the ignition module on Nissan Maxima, 280ZX, and Truck distributors may loosen, causing an intermittent shutdown of the ignition. Replace the connector to cure the problem and tie off the wiring to stop the vibration and movement that caused the problem in the first place.
We are also starting to see a similar problem at the power transistor connector on 1984-88 Nissan Sentras. The intermittent connection at the two wire connector causes the same intermittent ignition shutdown.
