Symptom Diagnosis
Symptom checks cannot be used properly unless the problem occurs while vehicle is being tested. To reduce diagnostic time, ensure steps in BASIC TESTING and TESTS W/CODES article in the ENGINE PERFORMANCE Section were performed before diagnosing a symptom. Symptoms available for diagnosis include the following:
- Hard Start/Will Not Start - Cold, Normal Conditions, Hot
- High Idle - Warm
- Unstable Idling - After Warm-Up, Hunting
- Hesitation - Cold, Normal Conditions, Hot
- Poor Driveability - Lack Of Power/Stumble, Surge, Detonation
- Engine Stall - Cold, Hot, On Momentary Acceleration, After Deceleration, Acceleration Or Cruising, Heavy Electrical Load, While Turning
- Backfire - Intake, Exhaust.
