SERVICE INFORMATION

All Nissan dealers have been sent the following special tools as part of the Essential Service Tool Program.

AIR BAG DEPLOYMENT KIT

This tool has been developed to provide a safe and efficient method of deploying air bags when return for warranty consideration is not required (See Fig 1 ). Included in this kit are the following components:

(1) J38381, Air Bag Deployment Tool
(1) J38381-30, Passenger Side Deployment Harness
(1) J41246, Passenger Side Air Bag Bracket
(1) J38219, T50 TORX Bit
(1) J34970, Plastic Storage Case and Foam Insert

Please refer to the BF section of the appropriate service manual for specific warnings and procedures for proper usage of these tools.

NOTE: Unless the vehicle is being scrapped, it is not recommended to deploy the air bag(s) in the vehicle. This can cause damage to the vehicle interior.

VEHICLE SECURITY SYSTEM ADAPTER HARNESS

A new style VSS control unit connector has been implemented in the current 1995 Pathfinder VSS. NMC has developed a new adapter harness, J39867-PTH, and when combined with the VSS Tester J39857-A, will accommodate effective troubleshooting of the VSS system.

AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION PRESSURE GAUGE KIT

The Automatic Transmission Pressure Gauge Kit has been provided to assist in performing all line pressure tests associated with all Nissan automatic transmissions (See Fig 2 ).

ANGLE TORQUE WRENCH

The Angle Torque Wrench tool (P/N BT 8653-A) has been provided to ensure proper torquing of "elastic" components such as cylinder head bolts and crankshaft main bolts (See Fig 3 )

Refer to the EM section of the appropriate service manual for the proper torque specifications.

FRONT OXYGEN SENSOR SOCKET

The Oxygen Sensor socket (P/N J36471-A) has been provided to accommodate the new, longer Bosch type 22mm front O2 sensor. (See Fig 4 ).
