OBD-II Self-Diagnostics

Sentra has OBD-II self-diagnostic capabilities. Diagnostic trouble codes may be retrieved using Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL), Consult Tester or Generic Scan Tool (GST).

All models are equipped with a Data Link Connector (DLC) for use with GST. DLC is located below fuse box cover.

Diagnostic trouble codes are displayed as a 2-digit code using MIL. Codes displayed using Consult Tester or GST are displayed as a 5-character code. For example, Code 11 displayed by MIL is Code P0340 (camshaft position sensor malfunction) when displayed using Consult Tester or GST.

NOTE: When performing procedures in the BASIC TESTING article, be careful not to erase any diagnostic information stored in ECM memory.
