Power Transistor

NOTE: The DVOM must have a diode check position and be able to measure up to 20 megohms to perform this test.
  1. Disconnect power transistor connector. See Fig 1. At power transistor connector, check continuity between the following terminals, noting ohmmeter test lead polarity:
    • "a" (+) and "b" (-).
    • "a" (+) and "c" (-).
    • "b" (+) and "a" (-).
    • "b" (+) and "c" (-).
    • "c" (+) and "a" (-).
    • "c" (+) and "b" (-).
  2. If there is continuity, replace power transistor. If there is no continuity, reverse DVOM test lead polarity and check continuity across terminals listed in previous step. If there is no continuity, replace power transistor. If there is continuity, power transistor is okay.
