DTC P0120 - Throttle Position (TP) Sensor

  1. Check Ground Circuit

Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Loosen and retighten engine ground screws. Disconnect TP sensor harness connector. Using an ohmmeter, check continuity between TP sensor harness connector terminal No. 3 (Black wire) and engine ground. If no continuity exists, repair open in Black wire. If continuity exists, go to next step.
  2. Check Power Supply

Turn ignition switch to ON position. Using a voltmeter, measure voltage between TP sensor harness connector terminal No. 1 (Pink/Blue wire) and ground. If voltage is not approximately 5 volts, repair fault in Pink/Blue wire. If voltage is approximately 5 volts, go to next step.
  3. Check Input Signal Circuit

Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect ECM harness connector. Using an ohmmeter, check continuity between ECM harness connector terminal No. 23 and TP sensor harness connector terminal No. 2 (Yellow wire). If no continuity exists, repair open in Yellow wire. If continuity exists, go to next step.
  4. Check Component

Inspect TP sensor. See the SYSTEM/COMPONENT TESTS article. Replace TP sensor as required. Disconnect and reconnect harness connectors in circuit and perform FINAL CHECK .
