Sensor Range Charts

Sensor operating range information can help determine if a sensor is out of calibration. An out-of-calibration sensor may not set a diagnostic trouble code, but it may cause driveability problems.

NOTE: Perform all voltage tests using a Digital Volt-Ohmmeter (DVOM) with a minimum 10-megohm input impedance, unless stated otherwise in test procedure. To identify ECM terminals, see appropriate wiring diagram in WIRING DIAGRAMS article.
CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR RESISTANCE @ 77°F (25°C)

MASS AIRFLOW SENSOR VOLTAGE TEST (1)

Application Volts (2) With KOEO Volts At Idle
Pickup Less Than 1.0 1.0-1.7
(1) Values are approximate and vary with engine RPM.
(2) Key On, Engine Off.
HO2S OPERATING RANGE

Application Volts
Front Oxygen Sensor About .35-.60
Rear Oxygen Sensor About .43-.48
HO2S RESISTANCE @ 77°F (25°C)

Application Ohms
Front HO2S 2.3-4.3
Rear HO2S (1) 2.3-4.3
(1) Measure resistance between HO2S outer terminals. Continuity should not exist between center terminal and outer terminals.
POWER STEERING OIL PRESSURE SWITCH

Condition Continuity
Steering Unloaded (Not Turning Steering Wheel) No
Steering Loaded (Turning Steering Wheel) Yes
TP SENSOR VOLTAGE (4-CYLINDER) (1)

Application (2) Voltage
Pickup .30-.70
(1) Voltage is measured at wiring harness side with TP sensor connected and ignition switch in the ON position.
(2) Voltage is measured with throttle fully released. With throttle fully depressed, voltage should be about 4 volts.
