Ignition System: Distributor: Installation

  1. To install, reverse removal procedure. Ensure mark(s) or indentations on distributor shaft and housing are aligned. Check distributor rubber "O" ring seal and replace as necessary.
  2. After installing distributor, ensure distributor rotor is aligned with mark made during removal or set at cylinder No. 1 spark plug position. Check and adjust timing. See ADJUSTMENTS article. Tighten distributor hold-down bolt to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS.
