DTC P0460: Fuel Level Sensor Function (Slosh): Procedure

  1. Turn ignition off. Remove access cover located under rear seat. Disconnect fuel level sensor harness connector. Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between ground and fuel level sensor harness connector Green/Blue wire. If voltage is about 5 volts, go to next step. If voltage is not about 5 volts, repair open or short in Green/Blue wire and retest system. See WIRING DIAGRAMS article.
  2. Turn ignition off. Check continuity between engine ground and fuel level sensor harness connector Black wire. Also check circuit for short to voltage. See WIRING DIAGRAMS article. Repair as necessary and retest system. If ground circuit is okay, go to next step.
  3. Disconnect ECM harness connector. See Figure. Check continuity of Black wire between fuel level sensor harness connector and ECM harness connector terminal No. 68. See Figure. Also check circuit for short to voltage. Repair as necessary and retest system. If circuit is okay, go to next step.
  4. Remove fuel level sensor from fuel tank. Measure resistance between fuel level sensor harness connector terminals No. 2 and 5, with sensor at specified positions. See FUEL LEVEL SENSOR RESISTANCE  table. If resistance is as specified, go to next step. If resistance is not as specified, replace fuel level sensor and retest system.
  5. No problem is indicated at this time. Problem may be intermittent. See TESTING PROCEDURE under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM in SELF-DIAGNOSTICS - INTRODUCTION article.
