Exhaust Gas RECIRCULATION: Notes

ECM controls EGR system based on engine operating conditions. On Sentra, ECM controls ground circuits for EGR Volume Control Valve (EGR-VCV). On all models except I30, Maxima and Sentra, ECM controls ground circuit for EGR Control (EGRC) solenoid. See Fig 1 and Fig 2 . EGR-VCV or EGRC solenoid remains closed under certain conditions including the following:

Engine stopped.
Engine starting.
Engine idling.
Low engine coolant temperature.
Excessively high engine coolant temperature.
High engine speed.
Mass airflow sensor malfunction.
