Without CONSULT-II Scan Tool

  1. Drive vehicle at 20 MPH or more for at least one minute. Turn ignition Off. Connect a jumper wire between chassis ground and Data Link Connector (DLC) terminal No. 9. See Figure and Fig 1 .
  2. Turn ignition on. DO NOT depress brake pedal. After 3 seconds, ABS light or SLIP light will begin to flash Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs). Determine ABS system DTCs by counting the number of times ABS light flashes. Determine TCS system DTCs by counting the number of times SLIP light flashes.
  3. Code 12 will be flashed first, which is the start code. DTCs will then be flashed. See Fig 2 . A maximum of 3 DTCs can be stored, with most recent DTC flashed first. After DTCs are flashed, Code 12 will again be displayed and DTCs repeated. If only Code 12 is flashed, and symptoms exist, go to SYMPTOM TESTS  .
  4. If any DTCs are stored, see DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) IDENTIFICATION  . Perform appropriate test under DIAGNOSTIC TESTS.
  5. After completing repairs, erase DTCs. See ERASING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTC'S)  . To verify codes are cleared, repeat step  1 .
