DTC Confirmation Test
Malfunction is detected when either one-degree signal or 180-degree signal is not sent to ECM during engine cranking. Possible causes are:
- Camshaft Position (CMP) sensor circuit open or shorted.
- Defective CMP sensor.
- Defective starter.
- Faulty starting system circuit.
- Weak battery.
To set DTC, turn ignition on. Using scan tool, select DATA MONITOR. Crank engine for at least 2 seconds and run engine at idle for at least 5 seconds. If first trip DTC is detected, perform DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE . If first trip DTC is not detected, maintain engine speed at more than 800 RPM for at least 5 seconds.
