DTC Confirmation Test

NOTE: Use the following test to check overall function of brake switch circuit. During this test, DTC may not be confirmed.

Malfunction is detected when brake switch signal is not sent to ECM for an extremely long time when driving. Possible causes are:

To set DTC, turn ignition on. Fully depress brake pedal for 5 seconds. Erase DTC. Using scan tool, select DATA MONITOR. Wait at least 5 seconds. If first trip DTC is detected, perform DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE .
