Description & Operation
WARNING:
Vehicle is equipped with Supplemental Inflatable Restraint (SIR) system. When servicing vehicle, use care to avoid accidental air bag deployment. SIR system-related components are located in various locations throughout interior and exterior of vehicle, depending on application. Do not use electrical test equipment on or near these circuits. If necessary, deactivate SIR system before servicing components. See AIR BAG DEACTIVATION PROCEDURES

Transmission/Transaxle is equipped with an electronically controlled shift lock and mechanically controlled key lock system. Shift lock system prevents selector lever from being moved from Park unless brake pedal is depressed and key is installed in ignition switch. Key lock system prevents ignition key from being moved from ACC to LOCK position unless selector lever is in Park.
System consists of stoplight switch, key interlock cable, shift lock control switch, shift lock solenoid and park position switch.
