DTC Confirmation Test (Using CONSULT-II)

  1. Start engine. Ensure TCS switch is in OFF position. Read VHCL SPEED SE in DATA MONITOR mode with CONSULT-II. VHCL SPEED SE should be able to exceed 6 MPH when drive wheels are rotating at 6 MPH or more. If operation is as specified, go to next step. If operation is not as specified, go to DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE  .
  2. Select DATA MONITOR mode with CONSULT-II. Warm engine to normal operating temperature. Maintain the following conditions for at least 10 consecutive seconds.

    2.4L Models -

    • ENG SPEED: 1600-6000 RPM (on A/T models) or 1800-6000 RPM (on M/T models).
    • COOLAN TEMP/S: more than 158°F (70°C).
    • B/FUEL SCHDL: 6-16 msec (on A/T models) or 7-15 msec (on M/T models).
    • Transmission: except Park or Neutral.
    • PW/ST SIGNAL: OFF.

    3.3L Models -

    • ENG SPEED: more than 1800 RPM (on A/T models) or more than 1900 RPM (on M/T models).
    • COOLAN TEMP/S: more than 158°F (70°C).
    • B/FUEL SCHDL: 5.5-16.0 msec.
    • PW/ST SIGNAL: OFF.
    • Transmission: except Park or Neutral.
  3. If 1st trip DTC is detected, go to DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE  . If 1st trip DTC is not detected, system is okay at this time.
