DTC Confirmation Test (Using Generic Scan Tool)

  1. Turn ignition on. Select MODE 1 with scan tool. Ensure engine coolant temperature is 14-95°F (-10-60°C).
  2. Measure voltage between ground and EGR temperature sensor circuit at ECM terminal No. 63 by backprobing. See Figure or Figure . See Figure . Ensure voltage is less than 4.8 volts.
  3. Start engine and let it idle for at least 60 seconds.
  4. Stop engine. Repeat steps  1 - 3 .
  5. Select MODE 3 with scan tool. If DTC is detected, go to DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE  . If DTC is not detected, system is okay at this time.
