Out Side Moulding: Replacement

HINT:
- Installation is in the reverse order of removal. But the installation is indicated only when it has a point.
- In the RH side, work in the same procedure as in the LH side.
- REMOVE OUT SIDE MOULDING
- Using a heat light, heat the body moulding to 40 -60°C (104 -140°F).NOTE: Do not heat moulding excessively.
- Tie both piano wire ends to a wooden block or a similar object.
- Scrape the adhesive tape off by pulling the piano wire as shown in Fig 1.
NOTE:- If reusing the moulding, take care not to damage the moulding.
- Do not damage the body.
- Using a heat light, heat the body moulding to 40 -60°C (104 -140°F).
- REMOVE FRONT DOOR OUTSIDE MOULDING LOWER LH
- Remove the outside moulding clip No.2.
- Using a drill of less than 4 mm (0.16 in.).
- Gently and vertically place the drill tip onto the rivet, and cut the rivet flanges.
NOTE:
- Prizing the hole with a drill can lead to damage to the rivet hole or the drill itself.
- Be careful when undertaking this task as the cut rivet is hot.
- Even if flange is taken off, continue drilling and push cut remaining fragment with the drill.
- Remove the front door outside moulding lower from the door panel.
- REMOVE REAR DOOR OUTSIDE MOULDING LOWER LH
- Remove the outside moulding clip No. 2.
- Using a drill of less than 4 mm (0.16 in.).
- Gently and vertically place the drill tip onto the rivet, and cut the rivet flanges.
NOTE:
- Prizing the hole with a drill can lead to damage to the rivet hole or the drill itself.
- Be careful when undertaking this task as the cut rivet is hot.
- Even if flange is taken off, continue drilling and push cut remaining fragment with the drill.
- Remove the rear door outside moulding lower from the door panel.
- INSTALL FRONT DOOR OUTSIDE MOULDING LOWER LH
- Engage the front door outside moulding lower with door panel.
- Using a riveter, install the door panel with new water protection rivets.NOTE: The rivet is not positioned perpendicularly.
- INSTALL REAR DOOR OUTSIDE MOULDING LOWER LH
- Engage the rear door outside moulding lower with door panel.
- Using a riveter, install the door panel with new water protection rivets.
NOTE: The rivet is not positioned perpendicularly. - INSTALL OUT SIDE MOULDING
- Using a heat light, heat the body mounting surface to 40 - 60°C (104 - 140°F).NOTE: Do not heat body excessively.
- Remove the protective tape from the body.
- Wipe off stains with cleaner.
- Clean the moulding (if reusing the moulding).
- Using a heat light, heat the body moulding to 20 -30°C (68 - 86°F).NOTE: Do not heat body excessively.
- Remove the adhesive tape from the moulding.
- Wipe off stains with cleaner.
- Apply new adhesive tape to the moulding as shown in Fig 7.
- Using a heat light, heat the body moulding to 20 -30°C (68 - 86°F).
- Using a heat light, heat the body and moulding.
HINT:
- Body: 40 - 60°C (104 - 140°F)
- Moulding: 20 - 30°C (68 - 86°F)
NOTE: Do not heat body excessively. - Lift the moulding release sheet from the face moulding.
NOTE:
- When the moulding release sheet is removed, take care that no dirt or no dust can get onto the uncoated area.
- Do not apply excessive force onto the moulding, but steady pressure with your thumbs.
- Using a heat light, heat the body mounting surface to 40 - 60°C (104 - 140°F).
