Column Shift

SYMPTOM 1: 

SYMPTOM 2: 

  1. CHECK SELECTOR LEVER POSITION 

    Check the selector lever position for damage.

    OK or NG 

    1. OK: GO TO 2.
    2. NG: Check selector lever. Refer to ADJUSTMENT OF A/T POSITION  .
  2. CHECK SHIFT LOCK SOLENOID AND PARK POSITION SWITCH 
    1. Connect A/T device harness connector.
    2. Turn ignition switch "ON".
    3. Selector lever is set in "P" position.
    4. Check operation sound.

    OK or NG 

    1. OK: INSPECTION END 
    2. NG: GO TO 3.
  3. CHECK POWER SOURCE 
    1. Turn ignition switch "ON". (Do not start engine.)
    2. Selector lever is in "P" position.
    3. Check the voltage between stop lamp switch connector E38 terminal 3 (G/R) and ground.

    OK or NG 

    1. OK: GO TO 6.
    2. NG: GO TO 4.
  4. CHECK STOP LAMP SWITCH 
    1. Turn ignition switch "OFF".
    2. Disconnect stop lamp switch connector.
    3. Check continuity between stop lamp switch connector E38 terminals 3 and 4.

    Check stop lamp switch after adjusting brake pedal. Refer to ADJUSTMENTS in DISC - TITAN article in BRAKES.

    OK or NG 

    1. OK: GO TO 5.
    2. NG: Repair or replace damaged parts.
  5. DETECT MALFUNCTIONING ITEM 

    Check the following items. If any items are damaged, repair or replace damaged parts.

    • Harness for short or open between fuse block (J/B) and stop lamp switch terminal 4 (G/R)
    • Harness for short or open between stop lamp switch terminal 3 (G/R) and A/T device terminal 3 (G/R).
    • 10A fuse [No. 12, located in the fuse block (J/B)]
    • Ignition switch.

    OK or NG 

    1. OK: GO TO 6.
    2. NG: Repair or replace damaged parts.
  6. CHECK A/T DEVICE CIRCUIT 
    1. Turn ignition switch "OFF".
    2. Disconnect A/T device connector.
    3. Check continuity between A/T device connector M68 terminal 1 and terminal 3.

    4. Connect A/T device connector.

    OK or NG 

    1. OK: GO TO 7.
    2. NG: Replace shift lock solenoid or park position switch.
  7. CHECK GROUND CIRCUIT 
    1. Turn ignition switch "OFF".
    2. Disconnect stop lamp switch connector.
    3. Check continuity between A/T device connector M68 terminal 1 (B) and ground.

    Continuity should exist. 

    OK or NG 

    1. OK: Replace shift lock solenoid or park position switch.
    2. NG: Repair open circuit or short to power in harness or connectors.
