SERVICE INFORMATION
To ensure a high level of customer satisfaction Nissan has enhanced the Model Year (MY) 2010 GT-R by incorporating new Transmission Control Module (TCM) programming for MY 2010 that optimizes clutch engagement control for improved driveability. Standing acceleration capability with VDC ON has been improved compared to original MY 2009 performance although acceleration with VDC OFF may be moderated. This programming maintains the GT-R's smooth shifting, handling, maneuvering, and award-winning driving performance. Importantly, however, because this model year upgrade provides for improved acceleration with the VDC ON, such operation is covered by the Nissan GT-R New Vehicle Limited Warranty.
To ensure a high level of customer satisfaction among owners of MY 2009 GT-R's, Nissan hereby offers this same TCM programming for MY2009 GT-R's by offering to incorporate the new MY 2010 Transmission Control Module programming into MY 2009 GT-R vehicles at no cost for parts or labor.
IF YOU CONFIRM
This bulletin applies by checking Service Comm (P8258).

OWNER'S LETTER
Dear Nissan GT-R Owner,
Nissan is committed to providing the highest levels of product quality and customer satisfaction. We believe our current and future success depends on your continued satisfaction with Nissan. To that end we continually monitor the features and performance of the Nissan GT-R.
WHAT NISSAN WILL DO
To ensure a high level of customer satisfaction among owners of MY 2009 GT-R's, Nissan hereby offers you this same TCM programming for your MY2009 GT-R by offering to incorporate the new MY 2010 Transmission Control Module programming into your 2009 GT-R at no cost to you for parts or labor. Your GT-R will continue to offer supercar characteristics of exceptional handling, maneuvering and overall driving experience. This GT-R upgrade will enable you to take advantage of improved performance when operating with the VDC ON, and such driving will be covered by your vehicle's warranty which will continue to apply by its original terms.
As you know, the GT-R Owners Manual expressly warns against driving with the VDC OFF (except to free the vehicle when stuck in mud or snow). Repairs for damage caused by driving with VDC OFF (and therefore including use of what the media refers to as "launch control," which requires that the VDC be turned OFF) are expressly excluded under the terms of the Nissan GT-R New Car Limited Warranty. To avoid risk and exposure for such repairs (which can be very expensive), owners should drive with VDC ON at all times (except when stuck). (See your Warranty Information Book and Owners Manual for additional details).
We encourage you to bring your GT-R to a GT-R Certified Dealer soon to benefit from this opportunity. Take advantage of this opportunity to improve your vehicle's performance when operating with VDC ON, including standing acceleration with VDC ON.
WHAT YOU SHOULD DO
Contact your Nissan GT-R Certified Dealer at your earliest convenience in order to arrange an appointment to program the MY 2010 specification upgrade. This free service should take less than an hour to complete, but your Nissan dealer may require your vehicle for a longer period of time based upon the workshop schedule. To ensure the least inconvenience for you, it is important that you have an appointment before bringing your vehicle to the dealer for service.
Please bring this notice with you when you keep your service appointment. Instructions have been sent to your Nissan dealer.
If you have any questions regarding this Customer Satisfaction Initiative you may contact the National Consumer Affairs Department, Nissan North America, Inc., P.O. Box 685003, Franklin, TN 37068-5003. The toll free number is 1-866-668-1GTR (1-866-668-1487).
