Precaution for Idle Start/Stop System
PRECAUTIONS FOR IDLE START/STOP SYSTEM OPERATION
The operation of the idle start/stop system needs to satisfy various conditions. For details of the conditions, refer to System Description . The idle start/stop system may not operate under the conditions listed below:
- After restarting the engine, the vehicle is repeatedly stopped and started at a low speed due to traffic congestion.
- When driving the vehicle repeatedly back and forth at a low speed due to parallel parking.
- When the intelligent key is not authenticated. (In this case, the KEY warning lamp built in the combination meter blinks.)
- The battery is deteriorated. (High discharge rate.)
- A battery other than the idle start/stop system system-specific battery is used.
- Ambient temperature is extremely low.
HANDLING PRECAUTIONS
- When engine restart conditions are satisfied during the electric parking brake operation, ECM performs the engine restart after the completion of the electric parking brake operation. This may cause delay in engine restart, compared with a usual engine restart. For a smooth engine restart under the idle start/stop system operating condition, restart the engine before releasing the parking brake.
- To use the idle start/stop system system, the vehicle needs to recognize the status of battery. For this reason, the idle start/stop system may not be activated immediately after battery change.
