Power Steering (P/S) Switch

  1. Unplug P/S switch connector, located near front of engine. Check for continuity through P/S switch while front wheels are stationary, and while turning steering wheel left and right. Switch should be closed with wheels stationary, and should open as wheels are turned. If continuity is not as specified, replace P/S switch.
  2. To check wiring harness, unplug P/S switch 2-wire connector. Turn ignition on. Check for battery voltage between P/S switch terminals. If no voltage is present, repair open in wire(s). If wires are okay, substitute a known good ECU. If problem goes away, replace ECU.
