A/T Gearshift Lever Position Switch & Neutral Position Switch Test

  1. Remove front console. Gearshift lever position switch and neutral position switch are located on right side of gearshift lever mechanism. See Figure . Disconnect gearshift lever position switch 12-pin and neutral position switch 2-pin connectors.
  2. Place gearshift lever in "N" position. Continuity should exist between neutral position switch terminals No. 1 and 2. Continuity should also exist between gearshift lever position switch terminals No. 10 and 12. See Figure . If continuity is as specified, switches are good. If continuity is not as specified, check switch adjustment. See A/T GEARSHIFT LEVER POSITION SWITCH & NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH  under ADJUSTMENTS. If adjustment is okay but continuity is still not as specified, replace switch(es) and retest system.
