DTC P0740/Flash Code 40: Shift Control System

NOTE: Ensure other DTC is diagnosed first before proceeding this test.
  1. Test 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th clutch pressure. See ACURA M5DA OVERHAUL article. Repair as necessary. If clutch pressure readings are as specified, go to next step.
  2. Replace shift control solenoid valve "A" and "B" assembly and linear solenoid assembly. Reset PCM memory. See CLEARING FAULT CODES  . After clearing DTC, drive vehicle at more than 12 MPH in 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th gear for longer than 30 seconds in "D4" position. Recheck for DTC P0740/FLASH CODE 40. If DTC resets, replace transaxle. If DTC does not reset, system is okay at this time.
