Dimmer Control Circuit
NOTE:
Instrument light dimmer control regulates brightness of cruise control indicator light.
- Turn ignition off. Remove lower dashboard cover. From behind dashboard, push out dimmer switch from dashboard. Disconnect dimmer switch connector.
- Check for continuity between dimmer switch connector Black wire and ground. Continuity should exist. If continuity exists, go to next step. If continuity does not exist, repair open in Black wire or poor ground connection G201 (located at left side of engine compartment next to windshield washer fluid reservoir) or ground connection G401 (located behind left kick panel).
- Turn headlight switch to ON position. Check for battery voltage between dimmer switch connector Red/Black wire and ground. If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist, check fuse No. 19 (10-amp), located in underdash fuse/relay box. Replace fuse if necessary. If fuse is good, replace headlight switch or repair open circuit in Red/Black wire.
- With headlight switch in ON position, connect a jumper wire between dimmer switch connector Red wire and ground. If instrument lights illuminate, dimmer switch circuits are okay. Replace dimmer switch. If instrument lights do not illuminate, repair open in Red wire.
