Confirming Wake-Up Mode
When ignition switch is turned to ON position, all multiplex control units wake up together without communicating with each other through communication lines. When any switch in multiplex system is turned on, it wakes up its related multiplex control unit which, in turn, wakes up other units. If checking for a problem, turn on a switch in the following lists which is most closely related to suspected problem and see if it will wake up related multiplex control unit. If any multiplex control unit is faulty and cannot wake up, several parts of multiplex system will not operate. After confirming sleep mode, turn each of the following switches to ON position and wake up each multiplex control unit. If system operate properly, wake-up mode is okay.
Door multiplex control unit switches:
- Driver's door key cylinder switch (LOCK/UNLOCK)
- Driver's door lock knob switch (LOCK/UNLOCK)
- Driver's door lock switch (LOCK/UNLOCK)
Driver's multiplex control unit switches:
- Driver's door switch
- Engine hood switch
- Headlight switch
- Hood switch
- Ignition key switch
- Left rear door switch
- Left rear door lock knob switch (UNLOCK)
- Trunk key cylinder switch
- Trunk latch switch
Passenger's multiplex control unit switches:
- Front passenger's door switch
- Front passenger's key cylinder switch (LOCK/UNLOCK)
- Front passenger's door lock switch (LOCK/UNLOCK)
- Front passenger's door lock knob switch (UNLOCK)
- Keyless entry transmitter (LOCK)
- Keyless entry transmitter (UNLOCK)
- Keyless entry transmitter (TRUNK)
- Radio switch (Switch is grounded through radio connector. Test switch by disconnecting connector from radio.)
- Right rear door switch
- Right rear door lock knob switch (UNLOCK)
If wake-up mode is not okay, repair open or short in suspect communication line. If wake-up mode is okay but some individual system functions are malfunctioning, test malfunctioning system functions by performing self-diagnostic mode 2 tests. See SELF-DIAGNOSTIC MODE 2 . Repair as necessary.
