Cruise Control Cannot Be Set

  1. Test cruise control main switch. See CRUISE CONTROL MAIN SWITCH  under COMPONENT TESTS. Test SET/RESUME switch. See SET/RESUME SWITCH  under COMPONENT TESTS. Test brake switch and mounting. See BRAKE SWITCH  under COMPONENT TESTS. Test clutch switch and mounting. See CLUTCH SWITCH  under COMPONENT TESTS. Test A/T gear position switch. See A/T GEAR POSITION SWITCH  under COMPONENT TESTS. Check cruise control unit inputs. See CONTROL UNIT INPUT  under SYSTEM TESTS.
  2. Check ground connection G301 (located in left side of engine compartment, next to windshield washer fluid reservoir). Check ground connection G201 (located at right front of engine compartment). Check ground connection G401 (located behind left kick panel).
  3. Check the following wires for open or loose and/or disconnected terminals. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Check Blue/Green wire between horn relay and cable reel. Check Light Green/Red wire between cruise control unit and cable reel. Check Blue wire between cruise control unit, Powertrain Control Module (PCM), instrument cluster and test tachometer connector. Check Black/Yellow wire between cruise control unit and fuse No. 14 (7.5-amp), located in underdash fuse/relay box.

    Check Light Green wire between cruise control unit, brake switch and cruise control main switch. Check Gray wire between cruise control unit and brake switch. Check Orange wire between cruise control unit and Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS). Check Brown/White wire, Brown/Black wire and Brown/Red wire between cruise control unit and actuator assembly. Check Pink wire between cruise control unit and clutch pedal switch (M/T) or gear position switch (A/T).
