DTC P1486: Range/Performance Problem In Thermostat (3.2TL)
NOTE:
DTC P1486 can possibly set when hood is opened while engine is running.
- Check for other DTCs. If DTC(s) P0107, P0108, P0112, P0113, P0116, P0117, P0118, P0300, P0301, P0302, P0303, P0304, P0305, P0306, P0335, P0336, P0401, P0505, P1106, P1107, P1108, P1129, P1259, P1359, P1491, P1498 or P1519 is present, diagnose that DTC first. If no other DTCs are present, go to next step.
- Check engine coolant level and fill as necessary. If coolant level is okay, turn ignition on. Check cooling fan. If cooling fan turns off, check thermostat. If cooling fan runs continuously and never turns off, check cooling fan circuit and cooling fan switch. If cooling fan circuit and switch are okay, substitute known-good PCM, then recheck. If symptom or indication goes away, replace original PCM. See WIRING DIAGRAMS article.
