Steering Column Removal and Installation: Removal
- Make sure you have the anti-theft code for the radio and the navigation system, then write down the frequencies for the radio's preset buttons.
- Disconnect the negative cable from the battery.
- Remove the driver's airbag assembly (see REMOVAL & INSTALLATION (DRIVER-SIDE) article).
- Remove the steering wheel (see STEERING WHEEL REMOVAL ).
- Remove the cable reel (see CABLE REEL (SIDE-IMPACT) article).
- Remove the driver's dashboard lower cover .
- Remove the column covers (A).
- Remove the combination switch assembly (B) from the steering column shaft by disconnecting the connectors.
- Disconnect the ignition switch connectors.
- Remove the steering joint cover (C).
- Disconnect the steering joint (D), and remove it from the column shaft.
- Remove the steering column (E) by removing the attaching nuts and bolts.
