Oil Pump: Inspection
- Check the inner-to-outer rotor radial clearance between the inner rotor (A) and outer rotor (B). See Fig 1 and INNER ROTOR-TO-OUTER ROTOR RADIAL CLEARANCE table. Application Specification - In. (mm) Standard (New) .002-.006 (.04-.16) Service Limit .008 (.20) - Check the housing-to-rotor axial clearance between the rotors (A) and pump housing (B). Application Specification - In. (mm) Standard (New) .006-.007 (.14-.19) Service Limit .008 (.20) - Inspect both rotors and the pump housing for scoring or other damage. Replace parts if necessary.
- Remove the old oil seals from the oil pump.
- Gently tap in the new oil seals until oil seal driver bottoms on the pump. See Fig 3.
- Apply liquid thread lock to the pump housing screws.
- Reassemble the oil pump.
- Check that the oil pump turns freely.
- Clean and dry the oil pump mating surfaces.
