Rearview Camera Image Does Not Come On Or Work Properly
- Connect the HDS to the DLC
- Turn the ignition switch to ON (II), or press the engine start/stop button to select the ON mode
- Check for DTCs with the HDS
Are there any DTCs present?
YES -Troubleshoot the DTC, then retest
NO -Go to step 4
- Start the engine
Does the Navigation screen come on and show an image when the vehicle is started?
YES -Go to step 5
NO -Go to troubleshooting for No picture is displayed (see NO PICTURE IS DISPLAYED )
- Go into the System Self-Diagnosis Mode, and use the System Links diagnostic (see
SYSTEM DIAGNOSTIC MODE ) to check the connection between the navigation display unit and the rearview camera
Is the R-camera link on the screen?
YES -Go to step 6
NO -Go to step 8
- Confirm the system connection
Is the R-camera link red on the screen?
YES -Go to step 8
NO -Go to step 7
- Go into the System Diagnostic Mode, and use the Car Status diagnosis (see
CAR STATUS ) to check the BACK signals.
Does the BACK signal change from [0] to [1]when the shift lever position is changed from P or N to R?
YES -Go to step 8
NO -Go to step 6 under Vehicle Icon Wanders Across The Map When Driving (Does Not Follow A Displayed Road) Or Map Vehicle Icon Spins troubleshooting.
- Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0), or press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF mode
- Check the connections between the navigation display unit 32P connector and the rearview camera 12P connector
Are the connections OK?
YES -Go to step 10
NO -Repair the poor connection, and reconnect the connectors
- Disconnect the navigation display unit 32P connector and the rearview camera 12P connector
- Check for continuity between the navigation display unit 32P connector and the rearview camera 12P connector according to the tableCONTINUITY REFERENCE CHART
Navigation display unit connector Rearview camera connector Wire color 3 11 BLK 4 9 WHT 19 10 RED 20 12 GRN 21 8 GRY 22 7 BRN Is there continuity?
YES -Go to step 12
NO -There is an open in the wire between the navigation display unit 32P connector and the rearview camera 12P connector or replace the affected shielded harness
- Check for continuity between the terminals of navigation display unit 32P connector according to the tableCONTINUITY REFERENCE CHART
From terminal To terminals 3 (BLK) 4 (WHT), 19 (RED), 20 (GRN), 21 (GRY), 22 (BRN) 4 (WHT) 19 (RED), 20 (GRN), 21 (GRY), 22 (BRN) 19 (RED) 20 (GRN), 21 (GRY), 22 (BRN) 20 (GRN) 21 (GRY), 22 (BRN) 21 (GRY) 22 (BRN) Is there continuity any of the terminals?
YES -There is a short in the wires between the navigation display unit and the rearview camera Replace the affected shielded harness
NO -Go to step 13
- Check for continuity between navigation display unit 32P connector and body ground according to the tableCONTINUITY REFERENCE CHART
Navigation display unit connector Wire color 3 BLK 4 WHT 19 RED 20 GRN 21 GRY 22 BRN Is there continuity?
YES -There is a short to body ground in the wire(s) between the navigation display unit and the rearview camera, Replace the affected shielded harness
NO -Go to step 14
- Turn the ignition switch to ON (II), or press the engine start/stop button to select the ON mode
- Measure the voltage between navigation display unit 32P connector and body ground according to the tableVOLTAGE REFERENCE CHART
Navigation display unit connector Wire color 3 BLK 4 WHT 19 RED 20 GRN 21 GRY 22 BRN Is there less than 0.2 V?
YES -There is a short to power in the wires between the navigation display unit and the rearview camera, Replace the affected shielded harness
NO -Go to step 16
- Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0), or press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF mode
- Reconnect the rearview camera 12P connector
- Substitute a known-good navigation display unit (see
NAVIGATION DISPLAY UNIT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION ), and check the rearview camera image in reverse
Is the rearview image OK?
YES -Replace the original navigation display unit (see NAVIGATION DISPLAY UNIT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION )
NO -Replace the rearview camera (see Rearview Camera Removal/Installation )
