DTC P0958: Open in Transmission Gear Selection Switch Circuit, or Transmission Gear Selection Switch Stuck OFF: General Description

When the shift lever is moved to the M position (the sequential sportshift mode is selected), the upshift switch and the downshift switch can be used. When the shift lever is moved toward the upshift switch, an upshift is executed, and when the shift lever is moved toward the downshift switch, a downshift is executed. The sequential sportshift mode switch signal, the upshift switch signal, and the downshift switch signal are grounded when turned on and opened when turned off.

When there are upshift switch or downshift switch inputs while the sequential sportshift mode switch signal is turned off in the D position of the powertrain control module (PCM), a malfunction of the transmission gear selection switch is detected and a DTC is stored.
