DTC 1306: Vehicle Speed Pulse
- This navigation DTC sets when there is a problem with the VSP circiut.
- Check the vehicle battery condition first (see BATTERY TEST )
- Before you troubleshoot, make sure to follow the general troubleshooting information (see GENERAL TROUBLESHOOTING INFORMATION )
- Check the MIL on the gauge.
Is the MIL on?
YES -Go to the PGM-FI system's general troubleshooting information (see)
NO -Go to step 2.
- Check the most recent DTC (see HOW TO CHECK ERROR HISTORY )
- Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0), or press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF mode, then start the engine.

Is DTC 1306 indicated at the time you cycled the vehicle?
YES -Go to step 5
NO -Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time
- Go into the System Diagnostic Mode, and select the Self-Diagnosis Mode. (see Start-Up Procedure And Diagnostic Menu ).
- Select the Car Status in the System Links (see CAR STATUS ) to check the vehicle speed pulse
- With the help of an assistant drive the vehicle and watch the VSP signal.
Does the VSP signal change from [0] (stopped) to [1] (driving) as you drive?
YES -Replace the audio-navigation unit (see AUDIO-NAVIGATION UNIT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION )
NO -Go to step 8
- Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0), or press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF mode.
- Disconnect audio-navigation unit connector A (24P).
- Jump the SCS line with the HDS.
- Disconnect ECM/PCM connector A (49P).

Is there continuity?
YES -Repair a short to body ground in the wire between the audio-navigation unit and the ECM/PCM, and recheck
NO -Go to step 13

Is there continuity?
YES -Update the ECM/PCM (see ECM/PCM UPDATE ), or substitute a known-good the ECM/PCM (see SUBSTITUTING THE ECM/PCM ), and recheck. If the symptom/indication goes away, replace the original ECM/PCM (see ECM/PCM REPLACEMENT ).
NO -Repair an open in the wire between the audio-navigation unit and the ECM/PCM, and recheck.
