USA models

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2011 Acura TL, 2010 Acura TL, and 2009 Acura TL. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE:
  • Check the vehicle battery condition first (see BATTERY TEST )
  • This navigation DTC sets when a problem (open or short) is detected in the COMM BUS.
  • Before you troubleshoot, make sure to follow the general troubleshooting information (see GENERAL TROUBLESHOOTING INFORMATION )
  • Check for and resolve any B-CAN DTCs before troubleshooting
  • Check any official Honda service website for any service information about the AcuraLink or software updates.
  1. Check the most recent DTC (see HOW TO CHECK ERROR HISTORY )
  2. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0), or press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF mode, then back to ON (II), or the ON mode
  3. Check the most recent DTC (see HOW TO CHECK ERROR HISTORY )

    Is DTC 1801 indicated at the time you cycled the vehicle? 

    YES  -Go to step 4

    NO  -Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time

  4. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0), or press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF mode
  5. Check for poor connections or loose terminals at AcuraLink control unit (XM receiver) connector A (32P), and audio-navigation unit connector H (28P)

    Are the connections OK? 

    YES  -Go to step 6

    NO  -Repair poor connections or loose terminals in the applicable connector

  6. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II), or press the engine start/stop button to select the ON mode
  7. Check for XM (HIP) communication with the HDS

    Does the XM (HIP) communicate with the HDS? 

    YES  -Go to step 8

    NO  -Go to the

  8. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0), or press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF mode
  9. Disconnect the AcuraLink control unit (XM receiver) connector A (32P) and audio-navigation unit connector H (28P)
  10. Check for continuity between the terminals of AcuraLink control unit (XM receiver) connector A (32P) according to the table

    Is there continuity between any of terminals? 

    YES  -There is a short in the wires between the AcuraLink control unit (XM receiver) and the audio-navigation unit Replace the affected shielded harness

    NO  -Go to step 11

  11. Check for continuity between the AcuraLink control unit (XM receiver) connector A (32P) terminals No 17, No 18, No 19, and No 20 to body ground individually

    Is there continuity? 

    YES  -There is a short to body ground in the wire(s) between the AcuraLink control unit (XM receiver) and the audio-navigation unit Replace the affected shielded harness

    NO  -Go to step 12

  12. Connect AcuraLink control unit(XM receiver) connector A (32P) terminals No 17, No 18, No 19, and No 20 to body ground with jumper wires

  13. Check for continuity between audio-navigation unit connector H (28P) terminals No 9, No 10, No 22, and No 23 to body ground individually

    Is there continuity? 

    YES  -Replace the audio-navigation unit (see AUDIO-NAVIGATION UNIT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION )

    NO  -There is an open in the wire(s) between the AcuraLink control unit (XM receiver) and the audio-navigation unit Replace the affected shielded harness
