Without HDS

- Open the remote, and check for water damage.
- If you find any water damage, replace the remote.
- If there is no water damage, go to step 2.
- Replace the remote battery (A) with a new one (CR2032), and try to lock and unlock the doors with the remote by pressing the lock or unlock button at least 10 times.
- If the doors lock and unlock, the remote is OK.
- If the doors do not lock and unlock, go to step 3.
- Reprogram the remote with the HDS, then try to lock and unlock the doors.
- If the doors lock and unlock, the remote is OK.
- If the doors do not lock and unlock, try and program to another vehicle.
- If the remote programs to another vehicle, go to B-CAN System Diagnosis Test Mode A. (See TROUBLESHOOTING - B-CAN SYSTEM DIAGNOSIS TEST MODE A )
- If the remote will not program to another vehicle, replace it.
- Start the engine
- If the engine does not start, go to the immobilizer system troubleshooting (see SYMPTOM TROUBLESHOOTING )
- If the engine starts, go to step 2
- Press the transmitter lock or unlock button at least 10 times to reset the transmitter
- If the locks work, the transmitter is OK
- If the locks don't work, go to step 3
- Open the transmitter, and check for water damage
- If you find any water damage, replace the transmitter and register the new transmitter (see IMMOBILIZER KEY REGISTRATION )
- If there is no water damage, go to step 4
- Replace the transmitter battery (A) with a new one (CR1616), and try to lock and unlock the doors with the transmitter by pressing the lock or unlock button five or six times
- If the doors lock and unlock, the transmitter is OK
- If the doors don't lock and unlock, go to step 5
- Reprogram and register the transmitter (see IMMOBILIZER KEY REGISTRATION ), then try to lock and unlock the doors
- If the doors lock and unlock, the transmitter is OK
- If the doors don't lock and unlock, substitute a known-good transmitter, register it and recheck (see IMMOBILIZER KEY REGISTRATION ). If still not operating, replace the immobilizer-keyless control unit
