Right Rear Power Window Switch Input Test
NOTE:
The power window control unit is built into the right rear power window switch,
- Remove the right rear power window switch (see REAR PASSENGER'S ).
- Disconnect the 14P connector (A) from the right rear power window switch (B).
- Inspect the connector and socket terminals to be sure they are all making good contact.
- If the terminals are bent, loose or corroded, repair them as necessary and recheck the system.
- If the terminals look OK, go to step 4.
- With the connector still disconnected, do the following input tests:
- If any test indicates a problem, find and correct the cause, then recheck the system.
- If all the input tests prove OK, go to step 5.
Cavity Wire Test condition Test: Desired result Possible cause if desired result is not obtained 3 GRN Power window master switch 22P connector disconnected Check for continuity between terminal No. 3 and power window master switch 22P connector terminal No. 12:
There should be continuity. An open or high resistance in the wire Check for continuity to ground:
There should be no continuity.A short to ground in the wire 8 RED Momentarily connect terminal No. 8 to battery power with a jumper wire, and connect terminal No. 14 to body ground. Check the right rear power window motor operation:
The motor should run (the window should go down).- Faulty right rear power window motor
- An open or high resistance in the wire
14 BLU Momentarily connect terminal No. 14 to battery power with a jumper wire, and connect terminal No. 8 to body ground. Check the right rear power window motor operation:
The motor should run (the window should go up).- Faulty right rear power window motor
- An open or high resistance in the wire
- Reconnect the connector to the right rear power window switch, and do the following input tests:
- If any test indicates a problem, find and correct the cause, then recheck the system.
- If all the input tests prove OK, the right rear power window switch must be faulty; replace it (see REAR PASSENGER'S ).
Cavity Wire Test condition Test: Desired result Possible cause if desired result is not obtained 1 BLK Ignition switch ON (II), and right rear power window switch pushed UP or DOWN Measure the voltage to ground:
There should be less than 0.2 V.- Poor ground (G651)
- An open or high resistance in the ground wire
7 PUR Ignition switch ON (II), and right rear power window switch pushed UP or DOWN Measure the voltage to ground:
There should be battery voltage.- Blown No. 32 (20 A) fuse in the under-dash fuse/relay box
- Faulty power window relay
- An open or high resistance in the wire
