SYMPTOM TROUBLESHOOTING INDEX

Symptom Diagnostic procedure Also check for
Cruise control cannot be set
  1. Check for PGM-FI DTCs (see GENERAL TROUBLESHOOTING INFORMATION ).
  2. Check the No. 13 (15 A) fuse in the under-hood fuse/relay box, and the No. 18 (15 A) fuse in the driver's under-dash fuse/relay box.
  3. Do the cruise control input test (see CRUISE CONTROL INPUT TEST ).
  4. Do the cruise control combination switch test (see CRUISE CONTROL COMBINATION SWITCH TEST/REPLACEMENT ).
 Poor ground at G101
Cruise control can be set, but the cruise main indicator does not come on
  1. Do the gauge control module self-diagnostic function procedure (see SELF-DIAGNOSTIC FUNCTION ).
  2. Do the cruise control input test (see CRUISE CONTROL INPUT TEST ). Test the cruise control main switch signal input.
  3. Check for PGM-FI DTCs (see GENERAL TROUBLESHOOTING INFORMATION ).
 Faulty gauge control module
Vehicle does not accelerate accordingly when the resume/accel button is pressed
  1. Do the cruise control combination switch test (see CRUISE CONTROL COMBINATION SWITCH TEST/REPLACEMENT ).
  2. Do the cruise control input test (see CRUISE CONTROL INPUT TEST ). Test the cruise control and resume/accel switch signal inputs.
  3. Check for PGM-FI DTCs (see GENERAL TROUBLESHOOTING INFORMATION ).
 Open circuit, loose or disconnected terminal: YEL/WHT or LT GRN
Set speed does not cancel when the brake pedal is pressed
  1. Do the brake pedal position switch test (see BRAKE PEDAL POSITION SWITCH TEST ).
  2. Do the cruise control input test (see CRUISE CONTROL INPUT TEST ). Test the brake pedal position switch signal input.
  3. Check for PGM-FI DTCs (see GENERAL TROUBLESHOOTING INFORMATION ).
  • Short to power in the BRN wire
  • Faulty brake pedal position switch
Set speed does not cancel when the cruise control main button is pressed
  1. Do the cruise control combination switch test (see CRUISE CONTROL COMBINATION SWITCH TEST/REPLACEMENT ).
  2. Do the cruise control input test (see CRUISE CONTROL INPUT TEST ). Test the cruise control main switch signal input.
  3. Check for PGM-FI DTCs (see GENERAL TROUBLESHOOTING INFORMATION ).
 Short to ground in the BRN or LT GRN wire
Set speed does not cancel when the cancel button is pressed
  1. Do the cruise control combination switch test (see CRUISE CONTROL COMBINATION SWITCH TEST/REPLACEMENT ).
  2. Do the cruise control input test (see CRUISE CONTROL INPUT TEST ). Test the cruise control cancel switch signal input.
  3. Check for PGM-FI DTCs (see GENERAL TROUBLESHOOTING INFORMATION ).
 Open circuit, loose or disconnected terminals: GRN/YEL, GRY, YEL/WHT, or LT GRN
Set speed does not resume when the resume/accel button is pressed (with the cruise control main switch turned on, and set speed temporarily canceled by pressing the brake pedal)
  1. Do the cruise control combination switch test (see CRUISE CONTROL COMBINATION SWITCH TEST/REPLACEMENT ).
  2. Do the cruise control input test (see CRUISE CONTROL INPUT TEST ). Test the cruise control resume/accel switch signal input. Test the brake pedal position switch signal input.
  3. Check for PGM-FI DTCs (see GENERAL TROUBLESHOOTING INFORMATION ).
  • Open circuit, loose or disconnected terminals: YEL/WHT or LT GRN
  • Faulty brake pedal position switch
Light switch turned on, the cruise control combination switch illumination does not come on Do the cruise control combination switch test (see CRUISE CONTROL COMBINATION SWITCH TEST/REPLACEMENT ). Open circuit, loose or disconnected terminals: LT BLU, ORN/WHT, YEL/RED or RED wire
