ANC/Active Sound Control System Check Mode (press No. 1 button)
- Do the speaker test first to make sure all the speakers are working properly.
- Aftermarket speakers and amplifiers can affect ANC operation.
With the engine stopped, and while in diagnosis, turn the ANC ON to OFF by pressing the No. 1 button. A low frequency hum (50 Hz) should sound for about a minute.
- If the hum does not sound, do the following:
- Do input tests for the ANC unit power and grounds. If the power and ground test is No Good, repair as needed.
- If the input test is OK, check for an open or short in the ANC F+, F-, R+, and R- wires betwen the ANNC unit and the audio amplifier. If there is an open or short, replace the shield harness.
- If the ANC F+, F-, R+, and R- wires are OK, check for an open or short on the ANC CHK2 wire. If the wire is No Good, repair as necessary.
- If the ANC CHK2 wire is OK, substitute a known-good ANC unit, and retest. If the problem does not go away, substitute a known-good audio amplifier.
- If the hum sounds for a second, check for an open in the wire between the front and the rear ANC/active sound control unit and the microphone.
