DTC P16C0: PCM A/T Control System Incomplete Update (USA and Canada models) (2013-18)
General Description
The control program in the powertrain control module (PCM) has a rewriting function that can be done in the field. The programs in the PCM CPU are the powertrain control program (rewritable program) and the update program (non-rewritable program). When the program rewriting process is not finished normally, such as turning off the PCM power during the rewriting process, and then pressing the engine start/stop button to select the ON mode again, the A/T CPU starts according to the rewriting function program, and this DTC is sent to the FI CPU via serial communication and stored in the PCM.

Diagnosis Details
Conditions for setting the DTC
When a malfunction is detected, the MIL comes on and a Pending DTC, a Confirmed DTC, and the freeze data are stored in the PCM memory.
Conditions for clearing the DTC
The MIL is cleared if the malfunction does not return in three consecutive trips in which the diagnostic runs. The MIL, the Pending DTC, the Confirmed DTC, and the freeze data can be cleared with the scan tool Clear command or by disconnecting the battery.
