Doors Automatically Relock 30 Seconds After Being Unlocked With The Remote Even Though A Door Has Been Opened (2017 2018 2019 2020)

NOTE: Before troubleshooting, check the B-CAN DTCs. If any DTC is indicated, troubleshoot the indicated DTC first.
  1. Determine possible failure area (MICU, others)

    -1. Move the interior light switch to the DOOR position.

    - 2. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

    - 3. Watch the individual map lights and the door indicators on the gauge control module.

    Do the individual map lights and door indicators come on when the door is open, and go off when the door is closed?

    YES 

    Faulty MICU; replace the Driver's under-dash fuse/relay box - Refer to: Driver's Under-Dash Fuse/Relay Box Removal and Installation, or Passenger's Under-Dash Fuse/Relay Box Removal and Installation .

    NO 

    Go to step 2.

  2. Open wire check (FR DOOR SW DR, FR DOOR SW AS, RR DOOR SW DR, RR DOOR SW AS, FULL SW lines)

    -1. Disconnect the following connectors.

    Driver's under-dash fuse/relay box connector E (44P)Rear fuse/relay box connector A (49P)Rear fuse/relay box connector B (36P)Each door switch 1P connectorPower tailgate closer unit connector B (6P)

    - 2. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2 respectively.

    Driver's door switch 

    Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode Driver's under-dash fuse/relay box connector E (44P): disconnected Rear fuse/relay box connector A (49P): disconnected Rear fuse/relay box connector B (36P): disconnected Each door switch 1P connector: disconnected Power tailgate closer unit connector B (6P): disconnected
    Test circuit FR DOOR SW DR
    Test point 1 Driver's under-dash fuse/relay box connector E (44P) (female terminals) No. 24:
    Test point 2 Driver's door switch 1P connector (female terminals) No. 1:

    Front passenger's door switch 

    Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode Driver's under-dash fuse/relay box connector E (44P): disconnected Rear fuse/relay box connector A (49P): disconnected Rear fuse/relay box connector B (36P): disconnected Each door switch 1P connector: disconnected Power tailgate closer unit connector B (6P): disconnected
    Test circuit FR DOOR SW AS
    Test point 1 Driver's under-dash fuse/relay box connector E (44P) (female terminals) No. 25:
    Test point 2 Front passenger's door switch 1P connector (female terminals) No. 1:

    Left rear door switch 

    Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode Driver's under-dash fuse/relay box connector E (44P): disconnected Rear fuse/relay box connector A (49P): disconnected Rear fuse/relay box connector B (36P): disconnected Each door switch 1P connector: disconnected Power tailgate closer unit connector B (6P): disconnected

    Test point 1 Rear fuse/relay box connector B (36P) (female terminals) No. 12:
    Test point 2 Left rear door switch 1P connector (female terminals) No. 1:

    Right rear door switch 

    Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode Driver's under-dash fuse/relay box connector E (44P): disconnected Rear fuse/relay box connector A (49P): disconnected Rear fuse/relay box connector B (36P): disconnected Each door switch 1P connector: disconnected Power tailgate closer unit connector B (6P): disconnected
    Test circuit RR DOOR SW AS
    Test point 1 Rear fuse/relay box connector B (36P) (female terminals) No. 11:
    Test point 2 Right rear door switch 1P connector (female terminals) No. 1:

    Power tailgate closer unit 

    Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode Driver's under-dash fuse/relay box connector E (44P): disconnected Rear fuse/relay box connector A (49P): disconnected Rear fuse/relay box connector B (36P): disconnected Each door switch 1P connector: disconnected Power tailgate closer unit connector B (6P): disconnected
    Test circuit FULL SW
    Test point 1 Rear fuse/relay box connector A (49P) (female terminals) No. 9:
    Test point 2 Power tailgate closer unit connector B (6P) (female terminals) No. 5:

    Is there continuity?

    YES 

    The FR DOOR SW DR, FR DOOR SW AS, RR DOOR SW DR, and RR DOOR SW AS wires are OK. Replace the bad door switch.

    YES 

    The FULL SW wire is OK. Faulty Power tailgate closer unit.

    NO 

    Repair an open or high resistance in the wire between the MICU and the door switch/power tailgate closer unit.
