Front Seat Heater Control Unit Input Test

NOTE:  Before testing, check the No. B3-3 (60 A) fuse in the main under-hood fuse box.

1. Disconnect the 37P connector from the front seat heater control unit .

2. Inspect the connector and socket terminals to be sure they are all making good contact:

3. Reconnect the 37P connector to the control unit, and do the following input tests:

Cavity Wire Test condition Test: Desired result Possible cause if desired result is not obtained
2 PNK Vehicle ON mode Measure the voltage to ground: There should be battery voltage.
  • Blown No. E2 (20 A) fuse in the passenger's under-dash fuse/relay box
  • Faulty front seat heater relay
  • An open or high resistance in the wire
37 YEL Vehicle ON mode Measure the voltage to ground: There should be battery voltage.
  • Blown No. D10 (7.5 A) fuse in the driver's under-dash fuse/relay box
  • An open or high resistance in the wire
26 YEL Combination light switch (PARKING position) ON Measure the voltage to ground: There should be battery voltage.
  • Blown No. E25 (7.5 A) fuse in the passenger's under-dash fuse/relay box
  • An open or high resistance in the wire
4 BLK In all power modes Measure the voltage to ground: There should be less than 0.2 V.
  • Poor ground (G801)
  • An open or high resistance in the ground wire
Cavity Wire Test condition Test: Desired result Possible cause if desired result is not obtained
3 WHT Vehicle ON mode, driver's seat heater switch pressed Measure the voltage to ground: There should be battery voltage.
  • Faulty driver's seat heater
  • Poor ground (G801) or an open in the ground wire
  • An open or high resistance in the wire
1 WHT Vehicle ON mode, front passenger's seat heater switch pressed Measure the voltage to ground: There should be battery voltage.
  • Faulty front passenger's seat heater
  • Poor ground (G802) or an open in the ground wire
  • An open or high resistance in the wire

4. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

5. Disconnect the 37P connector from the control unit, and do the following input tests:

Cavity Wire Test condition Test: Desired result Possible cause if desired result is not obtained
13 RED Vehicle ON mode Connect to ground with a jumper wire: The driver's seat heater HIGH indicator should come on.
  • Blown No. D10 (7.5 A) fuse in the driver's under-dash fuse/relay box
  • Faulty driver's seat heater switch
  • An open or high resistance in the wire
34 BLU Vehicle ON mode Connect to ground with a jumper wire: The driver's seat heater MIDDLE indicator should come on.
  • Blown No. D10 (7.5 A) fuse in the driver's under-dash fuse/relay box
  • Faulty driver's seat heater switch
  • An open or high resistance in the wire
12 GRN Vehicle ON mode Connect to ground with a jumper wire: The driver's seat heater LOW indicator should come on.
  • Blown No. D10 (7.5 A) fuse in the driver's under-dash fuse/relay box
  • Faulty driver's seat heater switch
  • An open or high resistance in the wire
11 GRY Vehicle ON mode Connect to ground with a jumper wire: The front passenger's seat heater HIGH indicator should come on.
  • Blown No. D10 (7.5 A) fuse in the driver's under-dash fuse/relay box
  • Faulty front passenger's seat heater switch
  • An open or high resistance in the wire
32 PUR Vehicle ON mode Connect to ground with a jumper wire: The front passenger's seat heater MIDDLE indicator should come on.
  • Blown No. D10 (7.5 A) fuse in the driver's under-dash fuse/relay box
  • Faulty front passenger's seat heater switch
  • An open or high resistance in the wire

10 LT GRN Vehicle ON mode Connect to ground with a jumper wire: The front passenger's seat heater LOW indicator should come on.
  • Blown No. D10 (7.5 A) fuse in the driver's under-dash fuse/relay box
  • Faulty front passenger's seat heater switch
  • An open or high resistance in the wire
29 LT GRN Vehicle ON mode, driver's seat heater switch pressed Measure the voltage to ground: There should be battery voltage.
  • Blown No. D10 (7.5 A) fuse in the driver's under-dash fuse/relay box
  • Faulty driver's seat heater switch
  • An open or high resistance in the wire
30 BRN Vehicle ON mode, front passenger's seat heater switch pressed Measure the voltage to ground: There should be battery voltage.
  • Blown No. D10 (7.5 A) fuse in the driver's under-dash fuse/relay box
  • Faulty front passenger's seat heater switch
  • An open or high resistance in the wire
7 ORN Under all conditions Check for continuity between terminals No. 7 and No. 18: There should be continuity.
  • Faulty driver's seat cushion heater
  • An open or high resistance in the wire
18 BLU
27 PUR Under all conditions Check for continuity between terminals No. 27 and No. 19: There should be continuity.
  • Faulty front passenger's seat cushion heater
  • An open or high resistance in the wire
