Rearview Camera Image Does Not Change When Selecting Different Views (2016 2017 2018)
- Check the vehicle battery condition first .
- You can select three different rearview camera angles for backing up. If there is no camera image on the display.
- Check the connectors for poor connections or loose terminals.
- Problem verification
-1. Press the engine start/stop button to select the ON mode.
-2. Shift the transmission to R position/mode.
-3. Press the ENTER button to see if the rearview image changes between the wide view, the normal view, and the top down view in this order.
Does the rearview camera image change properly?
YES
Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time.
NO
The failure is duplicated, go to step 2.
- Shorted wire check (CAMERA BIT0 line, CAMERA BIT1 line)
-1. Shift the transmission to P position/mode.
-2. Press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF mode.
-3. Disconnect the following connectors.
Audio-navigation unit connector G (24P) Rearview camera 12P connector -4. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition OFF mode Audio-navigation unit connector G (24P): disconnected Rearview camera 12P connector: disconnected Test circuit CAMERA BIT0 Test point 1 Audio-navigation unit connector G (24P) No. 5 (GRN) Test point 2 Body ground Test circuit CAMERA BIT1 Test point 1 Audio-navigation unit connector G (24P) No. 18 (BLU) Test point 2 Body ground Is there continuity?
YES
Repair a short to body ground in the wire(s) between the audio-navigation unit and the rearview camera.
NO
The CAMERA BIT0 and the CAMERA BIT1 wires are not shorted to ground. Go to step 3.
- Shorted wire check (CAMERA BIT0 line to CAMERA BIT1 line)
-1. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition OFF mode Audio-navigation unit connector G (24P): disconnected Rearview camera 12P connector: disconnected Test circuit CAMERA BIT0, CAMERA BIT1 Test point 1 Audio-navigation unit connector G (24P) No. 5 (GRN) Test point 2 Audio-navigation unit connector G (24P) No. 18 (BLU) Is there continuity?
YES
Repair a short in the wires between the audio-navigation unit and the rearview camera.
NO
The CAMERA BIT0 and the CAMERA BIT1 wires are not shorted. Go to step 4.
- Open wire check (CAMERA BIT0 line, CAMERA BIT1 line)
-1. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition OFF mode Audio-navigation unit connector G (24P): disconnected Rearview camera 12P connector: disconnected Test circuit CAMERA BIT0 Test point 1 Audio-navigation unit connector G (24P) No. 5 (GRN) Test point 2 Rearview camera 12P connector No. 2 (LT GRN) Test circuit CAMERA BIT1 Test point 1 Audio-navigation unit connector G (24P) No. 18 (BLU) Test point 2 Rearview camera 12P connector No. 1 (YEL) Is there continuity?
YES
The CAMERA BIT0 and the CAMERA BIT1 wires are OK. Go to step 5.
NO
Repair an open in the wire(s) between the audio-navigation unit and the rearview camera.
- Rearview camera check (substitution)
-1. Substitute a known-good rearview camera .
-2. Reconnect all the connectors, and recheck.
Does the symptom go away?
YES
Replace the original rearview camera.
NO
